Open-source · SHA-256d proof of work

Vivuscoin. Proof-of-work money you can mine yourself.

Vivuscoin (VVC) is an open-source cryptocurrency with 240-second blocks and a 50 VVC block reward that halves every 210,000 blocks. Download the wallet, then mine solo with any SHA-256 miner or claim 50 VVC from the airdrop.

Built like Bitcoin, sized for you

Vivuscoin runs on Bitcoin-derived code under the MIT licence, with a fixed emission schedule and a solo mining endpoint anyone can point a miner at.

Proof of work

SHA-256d, the same hash as Bitcoin. Difficulty adjusts every block, so the network keeps a steady 240-second rhythm at any hash rate.

What is Vivuscoin

Fixed supply schedule

Every block pays 50 VVC to the miner who finds it, halving every 210,000 blocks. The schedule is written into the consensus code.

Supply

Solo mining built in

Point any SHA-256 miner at the project's stratum endpoint with your address as the username. A block you find pays its full reward straight to you.

Mining guide

Get started

Three steps from nothing to your first VVC.

  1. Download the wallet

Vivuscoin Core 1.1 for Windows, macOS and Linux. It is the reference wallet and a full node in one.

  2. Create an address

Let the wallet sync, then open the Receive tab. Your address starts with A. Back up wallet.dat before you use it.

  3. Get VVC

Mine solo through the stratum endpoint, or register your address for the airdrop and receive 50 VVC, once per address.

How to mine

Point any SHA-256d miner at the solo stratum endpoint with your VVC address as the username.

The pool runs in solo mode: every block you find pays its full 50 VVC reward directly to the address you use as the username. Nothing is held by the pool, and there is nothing to withdraw.

Common questions

What is Vivuscoin?

An open-source proof-of-work coin built on Bitcoin-derived code. It uses SHA-256d, targets a block every 240 seconds and pays 50 VVC per block on a fixed emission schedule. The chain launched in 2021 and runs on Vivuscoin Core 1.1.

How is VVC created?

By mining. Every block pays a subsidy of 50 VVC, halving every 210,000 blocks. The schedule is on the Supply page and every block is on the block explorer.

Where can I get VVC?

Mine it through the solo stratum endpoint, or register your address for the airdrop and receive 50 VVC.

What is new in Core 1.1?

Per-block difficulty adjustment, protection against long gaps between blocks, tighter block timestamps and a reorganisation limit. The full answer is in the FAQ.

Long-term mission

Why the name “digital life token”

The whitepaper sets out a research ambition: to make life inside a computer indistinguishable from biological life by scanning and simulating a human brain in full physical detail, so that people could one day live in a digital form.

Vivuscoin is meant to be the currency that pays for computational resources in that future.
